The Smurfs
Aired: 1981 - 1990
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US
The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs in French) are a fictional group of small sky blue creatures who live somewhere in the forests of Europe. The Belgian cartoonist Peyo introduced Smurfs to the world, but English-speakers perhaps know them best through the animated television series from Hanna-Barbera Production.
The Smurfs were a large group of smurfy blue creatures living in a smurfy mushroom villiage. Their smurfin enemies were Gargamel and his cat Azrael who seemed to have no goal in life but to capture the Smurfs. They said smurf so many times in each smurfin sentence that you have to wonder what the smurf the writers were thinking.
In 1976, Stuart R. Ross, an American media and entertainment entrepreneur who saw the Smurfs while travelling in Belgium, entered into an agreement with Editions Dupuis and Peyo, acquiring North American and other rights to the characters. Subsequently, Ross launched the Smurfs in the United States in association with a California company, Wallace Berrie and Co., whose figurines, dolls and other Smurf merchandise became a hugely popular success. NBC television executive Fred Silverman's daughter had a Smurf doll of her own, and Silverman thought that a series based on the Smurfs might make a good addition to his Saturday-morning lineup.
The Smurfs secured their place in North American pop culture in 1981, when the Saturday-morning cartoon, The Smurfs, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, finally debuted on NBC from 1981 to 1990. The show became a major success for NBC, spawning spin-off television specials on an almost yearly basis. The Smurfs was nominated multiple times for Daytime Emmy awards, and won Outstanding Children's Entertainment Series in 1982–1983. The Smurfs television show enjoyed continued success until 1990, when, after a decade of success, NBC cancelled it due to decreasing ratings. The series currently airs in reruns on Boomerang, and 26 selected episodes were aired in DiC Entertainment's syndicated programming blocks. The series is still being shown regularly on many channels throughout the world. The cartoon was formerly distributed by Television Program Enterprises (the later name of Rysher Entertainment) and WorldVision Enterprises, Inc. by having some episodes with those company names. The cartoon is now distributed by Warner Bros. Television, and have made it available through their online video service In2TV.

He Man
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US
Adam is the mild-mannered Prince of Eternia. Unbeknownst to many around him, when he holds aloft his magic sword and speaks the magic words, he and his pet Cringer are transformed into Battlecat and He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe! He leads a fearless group, sworn to protect the realm and secrets of Castle Greyskull. Along with Man-at-Arms, Teela, and the Sorceress, he defends against the evil onslaught of Skeletor and his army. While Skeletor’s magic sword was formed of the same mold as He-Man’s, it is the pure heart of the wielder which makes him the more powerful, something evildoers learned every weekday for three years! The show also spun off into a cartoon called She-Ra: Princess of Power, intended to draw little girls into the realm of Eternia, but didn’t do quite so well for obvious reasons.
Other heroes included Orko, Stratos, Mekaneck, Ram Man, Fisto, and Zodiak
Other Villains included Beast Man, Trap Jaw, Mer Man, Evil Lynn, and Hordak
He-Man actually had his beginnings in Hollywood. What was originally to be a Conan The Barbarian cartoon & toy line after the 1982 Arnold Schwarzenegger film was eventually deemed to be too violent and sexual for children back in the day, so it was re-packaged as He-Man in 1983.

She Ra
Show Type: Animated
Country of Origin: US
She-Ra and her rebel friends must destoy the evil Hordack!! - This was the ongoing plot of the show. She-Ra was He-Man's twin sister. In many ways the show was a copy of the He-Man series, except that most of it's lead characters were female. Think of Hercules the Legendary Journeys and Xena: The Warrior Princess.
Most adventures took place on She-Ra's home planet, Etheria. On rare occasions, He-Man would visit from his home planet, Eternia. She-Ra's arch enemy was the evil Hordack, a powerful gangster / despot who usually plotted to take over the planet. Just as He-Man had a relationship with She-Ra, Hordak also had a relationship of sorts with Skeletor.
He-Man would visit She-Ra by way of a dimensional portal or transporter-like system. I don't remember the specifics of whether Eternia and Etheria were part of the same universe or occupied parallel universes.
Addition:
Actually She-Ra wasn't He-Man's cousin. She was his sister, they were twins who were separated at birth. I just felt this correction should be added.
Addition:
I agree with that, She-Ra was He-Man's sister. Also, Hordak used to be one of Skeletor's goons. He escaped from Eternia in a portal to Etheria kidnapping princess Adora. There she joined the rebels and wondering around, she found the "cristal palace" (dunno the name) where she was gibben the sword.
Addition:
Actually, Skeletor was one of Hordak's goons on Eternia. The Evil Horde was trying to take over Eternia. They plotted to the twins, Adam and Adora, of the King and Queen, but only Hordak got away with baby Adora. He took her to Etheria, then the portal (which was located in Castle Greyskull) was closed. Hordak raised Adora as his, making her a captain of the Evil Horde, until He-Man went through the portal ,found his sister, and gave her the sword which transformed her into She-Ra. She then joined the Great Rebelion which was dedicated to eradicating the Evil Horde.
Addition:
The name of the guardian in the Crystal Castle was Light Hope.
She-Ra also had more powers than He-Man. Her sword could change from Sword to rope to shield to ladder to grapple and line. She also had the power to heal as she did with Swift Wind.
Addition:
The sword could also turn in to a helmit for space travel.
Addition:
But how could Hordak get Adora if he was sealed by his own spell when he was fighting King Grayskull. If you see the new series of He-man, they stated that Hordak was sealed by his own spell in another dimension when he tried to sent King Grayskull to it. So how could Hordak take Adora if he was still sealed? Did he use Skeletor to take Adora when he still had control of Skeletor's power
ADDITION:
Hordack was Skeletors MENTOR. Not just a regular Goon. Skeletor was left in eternia when Hordack left with Adora. And thats how Skeletor came to eternia and to Snake Mountain
addition:
its all in the he-man and she-ra movie secret of the sword.
