Despite the hardness of a mollusk's shell, lies a fragility within

Climate Change

The Timah Tasoh dam, a current viral tourist spot in the heart of Perlis Indera Kayangan (Abode of Heavens). True to its name, Perlis offers picturesque views and tranquility. Perlis often experiences drought due to extreme weather. In 2016, drought affected the water levels of Timah Tasoh (Razak & Mahmud, 2021) But that doesn’t stop irresponsible humans from further disturbing the environment. Timah Tasoh is near quarry and industrial plants, and chemicals sometimes end up there (Astroawani.com, 2020). It is important to make sure these chemicals do not further disrupt the ecosystem of the mollusks there.

Explain how your creative work related to the topic and the chosen Sustainable Development Goal(s) :

My work relates to SDG number 13 - climate action and SDG number 14 - life below water. I talked about how climate change, such as rising Earth temperature, affects water levels in certain areas, specifically in my work, the Timah Tasoh dam in Perlis. This occurrence also significantly affects life below water, which in my work, the mollusks. Mollusks are soft-bodied invertebrates with hard shells that are commonly found in water bodies like in oceans and freshwater systems. Natural disasters such as droughts affect habitats that mollusks live in. With that being said, it is important for us to take care of the water bodies around us.
