What have we done? | Guest Writer

Fallen tree with the roots protruding, damaging the infrastructure nearby.

What was once land to play futsal on, now has become a part of the sea due to coastal erosion.

Tree trunks that used to be beautiful trees full of leaves and hope, now remain a memory

Plastics and nets get stuck on the branches, further polluting the beach

A tree about to face the same fate as the tree trunks, only time will tell

Theme : Loss of biodiversity

Title : What have we done?

Description of the photo story

Whether we realize it or not, Mother Nature has been suffering these past decades due to human beings. Our greed and the constant need to destroy nature for the sake of development have consequences that we can see easily nowadays. For example, the beach has been experiencing coastal erosion events, the process by which local sea level rise, strong wave action, and coastal flooding wear down or carry away rocks, soils, and/or sands along the coast¹. (U.S Climate Resilience Toolkit), which causes the area of land to decrease.

Explain how your creative work related to the topic and the chosen Sustainability Development Goal(s). :
Related to SDG No. 15, life on land. First of all, I mainly highlighted the trees on land that have lost their true form. This is also related to the loss of biodiversity that the dead trees. The absence of trees makes animals look for better places to reside, as the absence of trees causes the temperature to rise, and also, places with no trees will make animals feel no sense of security if they were to be attacked.
